Ódáðahraun lava field
Ódáðahraun is a huge lava field in the Northeast Iceland, to the north from the Vatnajökull glacier. It is hard to measure the field, but its size is estimated to be between 4,400 km2 and 5,600 km2. The lava in this field was created in different times and came from different volcanoes. The oldest layers are around 9000 years old and the youngest were created 30 years ago. The lava field contains caves, some of them are full of geothermal water and suitable for bathing.
