Hallmundarhellir cave

One of the caves in the Hallmundarhraun lava field in the east of the Langjökull glacier has got a name of the lava field itself and is called Hallmundarhellir. The cave is 560 meters above the sea level and total length of the lava tube is about 200 meters. When the farmer Kalman Stefánsson entered the lava tube 1956, he understood, that he was not the first visitor here. He found inside some very old human made constructions from stones which can be visited also nowadays.
