Reykjavik
Reykjavik is the world´s northernmost capital of a sovereign state. The population of the city is 120,000 people and in the Greater Reykjavik Area live over 200,000 inhabitants. Reykjavik is believed to be the first permanent settlement in Iceland, the city was founded in 1786 as an official trading town. Many great Icelandic artists and musicians grew up in Reykjavik, such as Björk, the band Sigur Rós and others. Today the city is full of entertainment: people can choose from many galleries, museums, restaurants and cafes. Music and cinema festivals are attracting more and more visitors every year, streets of Reykjavik are crowded during the city festivals.
