Dettifoss waterfall
Dettifosss waterfall in Northeast Iceland is reputed to be the most powerful waterfall in Europe. It is situated on the river Jökulsá á fjöllum, which flows from the Vatnajökull glacier and collects the water from the large area in Northeast Iceland. The falls of Dettifoss are 100 meters wide and have a drop of 45 meters. It is the largest waterfall in Europe in terms of volume discharge. Dettifoss is the southernmost part of the Jökulsárgljúfur National Park. New tarmac road to the waterfall was finished in 2011 and made Dettifoss easier to reach.
